The Asheville Art Museum is a nonprofit organization accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The museum has over 7,500 artworks in its collection and served 123,631 people with its engaging programs and exhibitions in 2020-2021. The Asheville Art Museum was founded by artists with a mission to allow guests to explore the unique art history of Western NC in the 20th and 21st centuries. Their mission is made possible by its funding support from members, individual donors, businesses, and foundations. Some of the supporters include the National Endowment for the Arts, the North Carolina Arts Council, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the City of Asheville, and Buncombe County.

Admission Fees

  • Admission is free for Asheville Art Museum members, University of NC Asheville students, active-duty military members with valid ID, and children six and under.

  • $15 is the general admission fee. 

  • $13 is the admission fee for senior citizens ages 65 and over.

  • $10 is the admission fee for students with a valid college ID or children ages 6-17.
