Dining Room Supervisor

Dining Room Supervisor of The Silo Cookhouse

The Horse Shoe Farm is an 85-acre boutique resort in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains that offers intentional hospitality to our guests through lodging (we sleep up to 80 guests), dining (The Silo Cookhouse) and spa (The Stable Spa). This spectacular property is looking for the right person to join our team as Dining Room Supervisor. The Dining Room Supervisor is an essential member of the farm, responsible for supervising all aspects of service at The Silo Cookhouse.

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

ยท Supervise the Front of House Staff, including scheduling, hiring, training, evaluation, and development

ยท Supervise the dining room during service, including setting up tables, greeting guests, delivering food and beverage to tables, and overall supervision during meals to ensure the highest standards of service

ยท Work closely with our Executive Chef to ensure and execute the highest level of hospitality, including prompt and gracious troubleshooting of customer issues or complaints

ยท Track, order and manage front of house inventory

ยท Perform closing duties, including reporting and revenue management

ยท Supervise the beverage program, including working with bartenders to maintain bar set up, menu development and implementation (**prior knowledge of wine & spirits is a plus!**)

ยท Perform other administrative tasks as required

Required qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of world class internal/external guest service

  • Knowledge of and experience in fine dining strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of wine & spirits strongly preferred

  • Must be computer proficient and tech-savvy or possess a willingness to learn how to use our systems. We use a number of systems from Resnexus (lodging), OpenTable (restaurant), Vagaro (spa), Slack (messaging app), Gmail (email), Grasshopper (phone system), and Notion (information database)

  • Must have excellent communication for both customer and interdepartmental interactions

  • Must be detail oriented in regards to observing things that need to be done or out of place as well as in document creation for new processes and procedures

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • 3+ years of upscale food & beverage experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis

  • Various physical movements through shift; can work between 10-14 hours to include standing/walking for extended periods of time as operation demands

  • Works indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions that includes fluctuating temperatures

Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the resortโ€™s facilities, ensuring that all guest rooms, public spaces, and mechanical systems are in excellent working condition. This role ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for both guests and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in facilities management, a strong understanding of resort operations, and excellent leadership skills to manage the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Management:

  • Oversee the daily maintenance operations of the resort, ensuring all areas (guest rooms, public spaces, outdoor areas, and back-of-house) are properly maintained.

  • Conduct regular inspections of all facilities and equipment to identify any maintenance issues or safety concerns.

  • Manage preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, pool areas, landscaping, and other resort infrastructure.

Team Leadership & Supervision:

  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance staff, ensuring they are properly equipped and skilled to perform their duties.

  • Schedule and delegate tasks to maintenance personnel, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.

  • Monitor performance and provide ongoing training to enhance the teamโ€™s skills and knowledge.

Guest Experience:

  • Work collaboratively with the guest services team to address any guest concerns related to maintenance or facilities.

  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in a way that maintains a high standard of guest experience.

Budget & Inventory Management:

  • Manage the maintenance department budget, including purchasing supplies, equipment, and tools.

  • Track and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and ensure cost-effective purchasing and usage.

  • Prepare reports on expenditures, repairs, and maintenance activities for review by management.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all resort facilities are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance.

Emergency Response & Crisis Management:

  • Lead or assist in emergency maintenance responses (e.g., power outages, plumbing issues, HVAC failures) to minimize disruption to operations.

  • Develop and implement emergency procedures for maintenance-related incidents, ensuring a rapid and efficient response.

Maintenance Technician

The ideal candidate is a hospitality-driven, detail-oriented, passionate person who can multitask.

As a Maintenance Technician at The Horse Shoe Farm, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our resort by maintaining the facilityโ€™s infrastructure, equipment, and guest amenities. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of systems, from HVAC and plumbing to electrical systems and general maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of the resortโ€™s systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.

  • Repair or replace defective equipment and systems to maintain the resortโ€™s functionality.

  • Maintain the appearance of the resort by performing general repairs and upkeep to guest rooms, public areas, and grounds.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.

  • Assist with the installation of new equipment or systems as needed.

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, ordering replacements when necessary.

  • Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.

  • Assist in emergency situations, such as power outages or natural disasters, to minimize guest inconvenience.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in a hospitality or resort setting.

  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform work to high standards.

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with guests and staff.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.

  • Physical stamina to lift heavy items and perform manual tasks.
