Five Holiday Traditions We Love To Celebrate On The Farm
'Tis the season to spread joy, merriment, and celebrate holiday traditions that we love. Traditions build strong bonds between generations of family, they are a way to pass down values, morals, and to teach us about life! At The Horse Shoe Farm, we value family. Our business is family owned and operated. We LOVE hosting family groups and reunions. Most everything we do at the farm is centered around family, the traditions we share as a unit. The holidays are like a family reunion, so why not bring your aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and more to The Horse Shoe Farm? We'd love to be your home away from home and create a new holiday tradition with you!In true holiday spirit, we thought we'd share with you some of our favorite ways to gather as a family and celebrate the season!Hot Cocoa and Sβmores Night By The Fire PitThere's nothing more delightful than a cup of Cocoa and sweet, melted, S'mores! When it's cold outside, this combination of warm sweet treats really hits the spot! The fire pit at The Horse Shoe Farm is a favorite spot for our family and those who stay with us, to share stories and enjoy the warmth. Gathering by the fire is a great way to pass down tales from our past to the younger generations. Or even to learn something new about someone in your family or group of friends. During the holidays, it can be an especially fun way to re-tell famous stories like A Christmas Carol. Stay with us at The Magnolia Manor and you'll have the fire pit right in your front yard! The Magnolia Manor is the largest house on our property and perfect for large family groups, as it sleeps up to 14 people.
The Horse Shoe Farm Christmas Potluck
Every year, on Christmas day, we invite our friends, family, and neighbors to celebrate with a big potluck! Folks from near and far bring food and presents and we spend the day enjoying the company. Everyone contributes to the cooking- it's a real collaborative effort, just as it should be. Anyone who stays with us during the holidays is invited to join us in The Silo Cookhouse for the festive day. We also offer the opportunity to hire a private chef or bring in catering for family events.
Lighting The Menorah
Our family,Β The Turchin's, celebrate Channukah at The Horse Shoe Farm! One of our favorite traditions is lighting the Menorah. The glow of the candles, the smiles on the kid's faces when they open their gifts, there's much to love about this holiday tradition. We celebrate Hanukkah, also known as The Festival of Lights, by lighting the candles each night and cooking up our favorite fried treats, like latkes. The holidays might be the only time of the year where you get everyone in the family into one photo! Capturing the moment with your loved ones is a classic tradition, around this time of year. With the mountains as your backdrop and several charming homes and elegant venue spaces, there are plenty of photo ops for families.
