Magnetism. Of the known forces of Nature, the one that I find most fascinating is magnetism.

Air can’t be seen, but it’s felt, and therefore understood in a way that feels simple.

Heat, can not be seen… but felt. Reflections. Electricity. The more illusive happenings such as connection and observation, ripe with space for interpretation and embellishment, don’t hold a candle to the enigmatic realm of magnetism.

The inexplicable, irreverent relationship between movement & matter create a force so powerful that it is neither seen, nor felt… yet it binds our universe together in utter & dire obdurateness.

Unyielding in its power, magnetism dances with gravity, light, electrons & human emotions as if it were a cosmic conductor, moving the pieces of a puzzle ever closer together. The seen & the unseen, slowly uniting to become one dizzying reality of feelings and substance. A magnetic masterpiece.

This farm is magnetic.

From the energy vortexes that lay in its valley, marked long ago by water diviners who tapped into the undercurrent of magnetism that flows with the French Broad, to the people that not so accidentally find this place through the social fabric of the internet… this place calls on those who need it.

One of the greater mysteries of The Farm, to me at least, is how it can continually give so much of itself. Perhaps i’m humble (unlikely), naive (more likely), or simply 1,000 years too late, but the magic that we all receive from THSF seems to far outweigh what we could ever contribute to it.

In my consideration of such a gift, my mind returns to magnetism. A force that is understood only functionally, not fully. Perhaps we are giving something that we can not see or know, and that is what sustains this place. Like two magnets, divinely destined to live in eternal balance that is unseen, but not misunderstood.

I’m grateful for guests like Erica, who brighten not only the patio of The Stable Spa Lofts, but the imaginations of those who were drawn in and inspired by her magnificent talent.

Gratitude exists also for the people who work here, dine here, drive on to the property to nose around, only to be greeted warmly by others who are eager to share its stories.

Keep your secrets Nature. We must all have something to aspire to. Something to learn.
